This project is heaven sent! I had tried to get into using Eclipse 3 times before I found this project. I have tried other normal editors, but for a first-timer, setting up a fullblown IDE isn’t as straight forward as one might think.

With the desktop Java and the Lamp distro I have really found my new favourite development tool - thanks!

I found easyeclipse, un-tar-ed it, installed subversive and all works fine.

EasyEclipse is so nice an plug-ins orchestra that saves we busy developers much of time. The plug-in’s needs for compatiability are well tested and the plug-ins themselves are well grouped!

BTW, if more plug-ins are included, that well be better… e.g. ANTLR support.

Here at m-st.ru webstudio we develop websites.

I havent tried EasyEclipse itself, but the plugins available on this site always make our dev team shout “WHOAA! Finally!”. Even the plugins saved us days of work time!!! Thanks, guys!

The three things we are really missing now are: SSH console, IRC Chat window and a simple bi-panel filemanager.

Hello and many thanks to the nice EE developers.

At the company where i work as an linux sysadmin our web developer were using stock Eclipse in the past and experimented with Eclipse-PDT and Eclipse-WDP but now with Easy Eclipse we found the best Eclipse Distribution suitable for our development needs (PHP mostly).

11 to 13 developers are working day by day with Easy Eclipse on an gentoo linux based terminal server.

I want to thank especially pombreda from #easyeclipse on irc.freenode.org for his kind support.

Greetings,

These distros are awesome! Personally I am more of a plugin pick-and-chooser but even the distros are bundled logically and very useful. I would like to suggest adding the subversive (http://subversive.sourceforge.net/) subversion plugin as an alternative to subclipse. I started out using subclipse which works very well, but subversive does more for you with less effort. It seems a little less raw and more user-friendly. Just a suggestion.
I am also curious about how I could get my plugin considered for bundling in one of your distros. The Resource Tagger plugin (http://taggerplugin.sourceforge.net).

Keep up the excellent work!

2007-01-30 09:41:00

Hi Chris!
Thanks for the kudos!
I have been playing with your tagger plugin no later than last week, and found it very cool. To get it in the next drop would be nice !
(I was also looking at tagsea)
Can you add a feature request @ sf.net for that?
The work left to be done there is very small, since I already have built installers (not yet committed to CVS though :o)

Ideally logged in so you will know when it is in :-)

Regarding Subversive, we have had many request and may start bundling as a separate plugin for now.

Hi

Easyeclipse indeed offers a very user friendly approach to using eclipse.
Just able to download it and use is indeed great especially when sometimes
it gets difficult to work on eclipse just becuase some plugin caused some
headache. Nice work.

One request. Sometimes downloading exe files is not possible because
of restrcitions enforced by admin team in office. Is it possible to
have the distributions in archive format for example zip or 7-zip ?
Upon extraction, there can be a setup.exe file which can install.

I have another suggestion. Recently i download netbeans using a java
web start program. Superb idea by netbeans. Is it possible to do that
otherwise.

Thanks
ps: keep up the good work

We have pondered to also ship something like a “plugins pack” that would contains all plugins of a distro beyond the core platfom.
That would be a cool idea :-)
In the meantime you can fairly quickly achive the same results by using the plugin/distro chart and install the additional plugins from the Server java distro to the Plugin warrior distro.

xeel,

Your comment is less than useless. Your link goes to a product that charges for something that Easy Eclipse is giving away for free. You give no reason why your product is better, except for you, maybe, since you probably make money from it as a shill for the company. I will avoid MyEclipse because of you!

Also, you are very rude to post something like that on this website. Get your own blog, and promote your products yourself - don’t leech off others!

Easy Eclipse is great for me. I am an experienced C++ programmer, but new to Java. I’m taking a class, where they use JBuilder 2005, and we have Swing assignments. JBuilder is good with Swing, but 2005 is buggy, and isn’t available for home use, and the current free version is limited, and leaves garbage on the desktop, something I don’t like.

Trying to get the visual editor installed with Eclipse is a chore; their website really sucks as far as help goes, and it’s pretty confusing to figure out how to install. So Easy Eclipse was just what I needed, and it installed perfectly on my Windows XP system, and seems to work on my Linux Ubuntu, but I only have 1GB on it, and it’s a bit sluggish (time for an upgrade?).

I will tell my classmates about this product, and how great it is. Thank you very much, and I hope you continue to support the product.

Hy, My EasyEclipse (3.1) seems not to work with Snow Leopard.
Did someone know some issue about MacOs 10.6 ?
I get :
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/eclipse/swt/SWTError
And Eclipse do never start …

hello guys i am converting to easyeclipse, over from netbeans….. from my understanding i don’t need to install JDK, and as long as the system i’m programming on has java runtime environment then its all good……great idea. however becuase i’m a student who’s working with GUI apps, mobile apps and server, as well as C++ and python, php, ajax and anything related to webapps i was wandering witch package would be the best………

the solution i’m thinking is to get the base pack then install the required plugins when required

Hi, Easy Eclipse is awesome

I am a Python Developer, I use web2py framework and for a long I was trying to find a good editor for web2py, I tried Eclipse and Aptana but both has problems with web2py project.

EasyEclipse works perfectly with my web2py apps.

Thank you for the great tool.

hi guys

I was about to quit installing eclipse and python because of pydev didn´t work. I´ve just downloaded EE and hope to use it with GAE, any known issue?

Regards…
